Hell folks,
I am trying to organise a semi-civilised stag nite weekend that involves walking, fresh air, scenic views and pubs.
Someone has suggested "camping barns" which sound pretty fun and Sparta like. Looked on the net for them but there are thousands to choose from.
Can anyone recommend a good one near the Lakes, or Peak Districts??? Sleeping about 10 people, not close and not too far from civilisation.
thank you kindly

No such thing mate. Get over to the Dam for the weekend, get shit faced, laid and arrested. In no particular order.
Seriously camping barns are the pits. I spent 1 night in one, and the rest of the week in a hotel.

A good one in the Lake District. Its just off a main road that takes you into the Lakes. One of my friends stayed there for a party.
I'll find out where it was.
P.S. He said it got quite cold at night

(One near Keswick will be better for pub exploration)

A great bothy on St Bee's Head, just outside Whitehaven.
The family who run it are great, it's 5 mins walk from the coastline and you can get into the Lakes dead easy. Can't remember it's name though...

try Rockhall cottage (built into the rock face, and very cosy with the fire lit - see here (http://www.peakdistrictview.com/resource/view_pano.php?panoid=339) for a panoramic pic!) or Falcliffe cottage, which is very near Stanage, and belongs to the University of London - it's also very cosy with the fire lit, and has plenty of room, plus is within easy driving distance of Sheffield (as I discovered when a friend had a fall near there, and we had to find a hospital...).
