Advice please you lovely lot.
I've just been informed that mu nephew wants an electronic drum kit for christmas!

I know nothing about these things and have been told that it must have a headphone socket. He's just starting so it doesn't have to be anything fancy.

Could some kind soul help me out here?

My drummer has one
but it was horribly expensive, so won't fit your requirements.

I can recommend that you get him something that at least partly resembles a drum kit, rather than one of those things that is a single box with 4 pads on it. they are shit.

something like this

rather than this

edit: in fact, the one in the top image doesn't seem too bad, and is reasonably cheap. it's an Ion IED

I've just read a review
and it looks like it would be ok, particularly for the price.

probably fine for a beginner!

I though about that Halfy
I really did.

Cheers again Vipros, I know what'll happen, he'll play them for a few day, and then they'll get put away. So I'll hopefully inherit then by my birthday :)

I was going to recommend something like the Ion,
presumably he's not going to be wanting to gig with it, so pretty much any old crap that is more or less the right shape and makes enough noise ought to do.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find an electronic kit without a headphone socket.

Wookie
No he's not goint to gig with it, he's only 10.

YEah it looks like we'll go with the ion one, it seams to be an OK starter. But as I said I'll probably get it in the end anyway, he has the attention span of a newt!
