Up until this morning, today was probably going to be shitty. Demonstrating labs for undergrads 9-12, boring meetings at 1, 2, and 3 pm.
1) The undergrads baked me a cake (fucking woo!) and I basically arsed around for 3 hours
2) My meetings at 2 and 3 got cancelled due to the weather
3) The meeting at 1 was actually quite good fun
Now I'm off early down the pub. So shitty day has actually turned into quite a glorious day! Plus I haven't made a snowman on my birthday since I was 2! Yay!

Happy birthday.
My work shut down for health and safety reasons, I couldn't get to London to go out for my posh meal or stay in my fancy hotel, my family 'forgot' to send me any birthday presents, and I found my first grey hair.
Great.
On the bright side, I'm going to a talk on Darwin and Intelligent Design this evening. Oh, and I had a glass of champagne with my lunch. But still, no presents.

So, Gibbon, they baked you the cake after all? Are you still going to fail them for it?
CHCB: my sympathies. If it's any reassurance, I had my first grey hairs pointed out to me on my 21st. I hope some presents turn up for you soon - I can't imagine the postal service is coping too well with a few snowflakes...

"oh well, maybe you could buy yourself a present to make up for it".
Yeah mum - LIKE A NEW FAMILY.
Edit: or some hair dye

I'm sure your willy's lovely.
(Admittedly I haven't seen it since we were...erm..never mind...)
CHCB: I know a few people who will be looking for employment soon. I could pass on their CVs if you're looking to buy a new family.

Amazing that your students made you a cake. Cancelled meetings - best. Enjoy...am waiting on a Feb. birthday myself. Snow is yay! Happies.

@CHCB: You mean you went to London and didn't call a bash?
( , Tue 3 Feb 2009, 21:50, Reply)

CHCB, my family have already told me that they probably won't send me anything for my birthday next week as it's too much hassle. So my boyfriend and I have decided that we just won't tell them that we're expecting a baby. Which I think will be a fair revenge.
Enjoy the darwin talk!
