Joy Division
After many years (about 9 I think) in the musical wilderness and not playing in a band (nasty punk guitarist) I am now the lead singer in a Joy Division tribute band!!!

I've never sung in a band before with the exception of some dodgy backing vocals, although I can do a mean version of 'Love will tear us apart' and 'Shadowplay'

And I'm from Macc, just like Ian Curtis.

I'm a little nervous but strangely excited :0)

Excellent!
Any footage of you on YouTube?

Not yet
The idea has been floating around for a while and now we have all the neccessary ingredients we'll be sorting out what songs to cover and taking it from there.

The other chaps can play 3-4 songs with confidence so its just a case of learning a few more, finding somewhere to practise (possibly the pub on a Saturday morning) and seeing how it pans out.

We're all Macc Lads as well and 2 of them previously played with the 'Mocc Lads'

'Mocc Lads' were also' Cash4Chaos'

Sadly neither going anymore so the drummer and guitarist from C4C/ Mocc Lads are up for doing the JD thing with the drummer playing bass and the guitarist sticking to what he does best, and the old singer for C4C on drums (coz thats what he does best)

I'll let you know how it goes.

Woo
I love Joy Division.

Got a name? Transmission sounds good for a JD tribute band. Or Misery Multiplication...

*joins fan club*
Joy Division saved my life when I was stuck in Southern California surrounded by people in 'Choose Life' t-shirts.

*Shadowplay*
*24 Hours*
*New Dawn Fades*

I wore my Unknown Pleasures t-shirt until it fell apart, destroyed by the California sun.

RIP, Ian Curtis & Martin Hannett, you mad fucking geniuses.

Also
RIP Tony Wilson - who was a bit of a tosser but knew a good thing when he saw it and knew that Joy Division were just that.

One of the - "Do you remember where you where?" moments.

I was driving between Harrogate and Ripon when I heard that Wilson was dead, and I pulled over and had a bit of a cry remembering what he'd been to my musical enlightenment.

agreed on Tony Wilson
Did a lot of good. Should not have forgotten. Has always wished could've checked the Hacienda. Nobody's perfect. But he did right by JD.

DG
Transmission has already been taken by a JD tribute down south.

We're thinking of 'No Control' or (and I prefer this one) ' Control 77' - Control being the film and 77 being the house number by Ian ended his life.

house
I know that house well, my friend owns a house a couple of doors down. Dont know who lives at 77 anymore though. I guess his wife is long gone?

Yup
I thinks she's still in Macc though. The last I heard Natalie had gone off to unni in Nottingham. Debbie also has a son (Wesley) who is a decent bloke. I've not seen him about a year though.
