With the recent decline of the HSH threads, I thought I'd start a thread in which we all recount our favourite moments from HSH threads past - those random threads of anarchic silliness where we created a collective surreal hyperreality that for many of us became a big part of our lives.

This is mainly for the benefit of the newcomers to see what they were once like, but everyone else is welcome to have a look and discuss their own favourite moments. Below are some of mine (some were from before the creation of QOTWOT).

• Here's a thread on the refugee board that due to a bizarre series of circumstances lead to the invention of Spunkchup
• There was a time when discussing what you had for lunch was something you regretted dearly
• The great gingerbread orgy
• The Peoples Democratic Republic of Devilavia
• The attack of the Mind-Weasels and the Ghost-Bees (towards end of thread)

If you can't remember the specific thread you had in mind, don't worry - just describe whatever your best memories of the HSH threads were.

I've got nothing against HSH but if you want to make it good, start threads and post in them, not start 500 other threads discussing HSH and reminiscing about it!

I've only started one thread. If you're thinking about all those recent threads that say it's time for the HSH threads to end or the ones complaining about HSH threads not being as good as they used to be, I've tried to do something positive instead by reminding us of some of the great moments we used to have rather than whingeing.

I'm pretty sure that was the first Devilavia thread, although I do recall that the discussion did spill over into the next couple of days' threads.

Anyway, these days, I don't have as much time as I used to and am starting these threads mostly to keep the flame alive for future generations. Often when I realise a thread has enough momentum to keep going, I nowadays call it a night.

My favourite thing
or at least the one which made me laugh the most was when as we were chatting away a hot air balloon suddenly appeared right outside my bedroom window and made me jump. I did a post which said "ooh there's a hot air balloon outside my bedroom window!" and the first two posts after said...

"shoot it down Fuzzy, and claim the inhabitants as your own"

"grappling hook and joyride?"

...and that is why I love b3tans.

That's what I like about these threads - we receive a surreal response to any little dilemma we may have - no matter how trivial.
