a recipe from work that I absolutely LOVE
For perfect roasted spanish onions.

- cut the onions into eighths, keeping the core and place into an oven dish
- splash in some olive oil and white wine vinger (white vinegar is okay but don't use balsamic, it screws up the taste!)
- sprinkle a little salt and pepper evenly over the top with a wee bit of caster sugar over that.
- add a clove or two of garlic, roughly chopped, and a sprig of rosemary or thyme
- cover with glad bake - then tightly cover that with foil to steam it.
- chuck into an oven on 180degrees celcius for 20ish minutes. Wait until the onions are a vibrant pink, then cook for another five minutes until a skewer slides in easily.

YUM YUM!! perfect with just about everything I can think of. Except asian food. Roasts dinners, pastas, risottos, bruschettas. yummy!

Why no Asian food?
racist

because
this has a lot of sweetness to it that doesn't work well with a lot of spices used.

I've tried it. Blech. I wanted to combine my two favourite foods and it didn't work. Maybe I didn't find the right thing but still.

I combined my two favourite foods
once, it was fucking awesome.

Chopped Cumberland sausages and bacon, scrambled egg and brown sauce, mixed together with noodles, nam pla sauce and tabasco.

Strawberries and chocolate...

What's glad bake?
Never heard of it. Is it made from gladioli? Is it a type of clingfilm?
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 14:09, Reply)
S'tin or aluminium foil
EDIT just googled it, it's actually just greaseproof paper

If only
there was somewhere on the internet where you could type in, say 'glad bake' and it would search until it found a match.

I reckon someone could get pretty darn rich if they set that up.

It's baking paper Bert you helm.

Have you considered the logistics
of something like that, Monty? I'm pretty sure it would be extremely difficult, nigh on impossible to set up.
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 14:14, Reply)
You're right
Just another one of my wacky - nay, crazy - 'pie in the sky' ideas....

*sigh*

Fuck off the pair of you
It's called conversation. It's what people did before the internet. While I could check my co-workers facebook entries, I find asking them how their weekend was more rewarding.
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 14:27, Reply)
Calm down, Light
Nobody was taking the piss, we were just being a little bit facetious.

I'm more than happy to converse on any subject you like.
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 14:28, Reply)
hey Light
yes. tis a baking paper - sorry - I've just always called it glad bake.
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 14:31, Reply)
OooooOOOoooooo *handbag*
Seriously though, sorry to have offended you - not my intention at all. We were simply having one of those conversations you like so much.

Just a bit of cheeky fun, I though - not meriting a 'fuck off', or am I really wide of the mark here?

Stop stoking the fire Monty
You're only going to make it worse, and there'll be tears before bedtime.
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 14:47, Reply)
OK
I'm sorry. Don't want to upset or offend anyone, merely to entertain.
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 14:48, Reply)
Fucking cunt

(, Fri 1 May 2009, 14:51, Reply)
It was intended as a
light-hearted fuck-off, as one might in banter with chums who are ribbing one.

Of course then I wandered off and left you to draw your own conclusions. Ah, fickle text with your lack of contextual clues!
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 14:53, Reply)
and you an' all
cunt.
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 14:59, Reply)
So true
My problem is that I am almost constantly joking or being sarcastic in some way - this is indeed tricky to convey over the magical interhighway.
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 14:59, Reply)
Me too
but with added cheekiness, naughtiness and slight hints of evil
