Indeed, I'd heard that statistic which is quite worrying; 'merkins don't need a passport for travel to and from Canada though (or am I imagining it?).

I've done the countries that you mention (and am from the Scottish highlands originally) but would strongly recommend Russia. Apart from the obvious vastness of the place it is excellent.

As of 1 June this year we will need a passport or
what they call a passport card or enhanced drivers license (only good for Canada and Mexico).

what part of the 7% actually use them...
that's the most frightening thing. Edmund, wonder if I ever passed through your town. Was on a motorbike on that trip. And I have been dying to go to Russia forever, particularly St. Petersburg.
