Halp please
My brother has just made me go on World of Warcraft.

First I got the free 10 day trial. Then I got the actual full game disc.
When I installed it, the installation failed. I deleted the trial game and tried installing it again. It said it was successful.

So I clicked on it in my program list and a box came up and it had news in it and stuff, and it automatically downloaded a patch. Oh yeah, I also copied all the update files from my brother's pooter to mine after installing it, while it was downloading some stuff, which I'm not sure but I think was prolly updates.

So after it automatically downloaded a patch it closed the box down and the installer screen came up and asked me if I wanted to install World of Warcraft. I asked my brother what he thought about this and he said it may just want to install the update.

So I clicked on it and it told me it would like to move World of Warcraft to a public file, and recommended that I allow it to. So I clicked yes, and it started a 3.4gb download. 3.4gb?!

Now that seems wrong to me. I will have to leave it downloading all fucking night, and my pooter is getting hot. Also, my electricity is being switched off at 9 tomorrow morning. Do you think it is downloading the same thing I've just installed but in a different place? Should I stop it and just delete everything and start again, but put it in the public folder right from the start?

Or should I be patient and let it do it's thing?

Nope
For a fresh, out of the box install of WoW I generally have to download 5gb of patches (old discs). 3.4gb is quite normal... and because it's done by BitTorrent, it's bloody slow. It's already copied all the files to a public place... not uncommon to see a full install of WoW with both expansions reaching 13GB+ now...

Hmpf.
I am guessing that it prolly won't be finished by the time my electricity gets switched off...

It was just that I'd already put all the patches into the folder, in the hope it wouldn't download them. And 3.4gb was the amount of space it told me it needed when I installed the game off the disc, so I wondered if it was just the same stuff...

Ah well. I will be patient, and go and name all the countries in the world on Sporcle instead. (173 out of 195 last time, and I would have got more but I ran out of time).

EDIT: *has officially become a nerd*

which is not as cool as a geek...

Oo, oo, oo
*raises hand*

1) Delete it all.

Stay with me now.

2) Throw the disc in the bin.

3) Set fire to the bin.

4) Set fire to the bin again for good measure.

Nah man, you got it wrong
1) Delete it all

2) Put the disc in the microwave

3) Switch on the microwave, watch the pretty lights for as long as you want to

4) Throw the disc in the bin

5) Set fire to the bin

6) Set fire to the bin again for good measure.

7) Piss on the flaming bin, and then set fire to it yet again.
