What size is the image?
I might be able to drop the file-size considerably for you.

It's 1024x600
Then resized to 640x480 as that's the size the BIOS needs. It displays at 1024x600 so it doesn't look squashed up when displayed. The problem isn't so much with the filesize as how easily the image compresses.

Since the BIOS upgrade though the screen only displays for about half a second which sucks (although I can't really complain about a quicker boot).

In a week or two I might ask for some help customising a different screen during start up. I should be able to get a custom sound played at the same time as that screen too =D

:edit: For clairty all I did was nick the image from the net, put Admiral Akbar into a 1024x600 size background, change some colour so that it looked right when booting and then saved it as a 256 colour bitmap.
