Or was the joke more that the BNP are racistand all Indian restaurants are run by people who are a different race to the BNP.
If this were the intention of the joke it makes two vague generalisations based on race.
It falls short of making a value judgment about somone based on their race, but it's not the funniest or cleverest joke to make after talking about your own burning intolerance of the BNP.
But I'm just joshing... love you all really.
