'noon all! I've been Made To Work. Sucks. Anyway...
The fella and I have been having a disagreement about this. We spotted a sign saying "Dad's go free" (and a little bit of me died again). It also said "Father's Day" somewhere on it.
Obviously I was in tears with the whole grammatical debacle. But then the disagreement... I think both are wrong, including the ol' "father's day". I think it is the day to celebrate fathers, not just your personal father, so I think it should read "Fathers' Day".
The fella disagrees. He reckons you should only have one dad, ergo father's day.
Tell me I'm right.
And if I'm wrong I may not be around for a while because I'll be undergoing a brain transplant with a monkey.
/edit - apologies for the plethora of disagreeage in there.

Nothing like a transsexual dwarf to liven a party up

before reverting to looking at the walls in silence.
But there is no argument. I'm right. I just need reassurance because I'm dependent, neurotic, needy and insecure.

And premenstrual. Always. You know how that feels.

Psyche is a girl.
PsychoChomp is not.
Could this be where the confusion is from? For some reason, I had them the other way round.
The apostrophe question's difficult though.

I'd never thought of that.
I think I was a bloke before PsychoChomp was a girl though.

My GOD it's gone! Gone I tell you!
That was NOT part of the bargain. I understood I would retain the willy but gain breastacles. Where is he? The swine....

Is all.
No need for the monkey brain transplant.

Just right. This time. We need much more of this before we can agree empirical evidence confirms superiority. This of course will require copious input from other half as a control set.

I'm not sure if I have photographic evidence of me being right, but... We're moving in together in a couple of months. Is that not evidence enough of him being pussywhipped into submission?
(I didn't really pussywhip him - honest)

...my auld fella died about three years ago, but I still observe the tradition of the day by having a quiet half-hour in the study with a decent scotch and a few of my favourite photos of him.
So in answer, for me it's about my Dad.

You may want to omit the actual medicinal component if you aren't drowning in snot as I was at the time. It would prob be even more pleasant on the tastebuds without it too.

I'd have thought the lemsip might make it lemsippy?
Yup I'll omit those and go for the rest. Anything with ginger in it gets my vote.

Much better than having a father you don't care for.
I have one I'm not much fussed about, and the biological one died a couple of years ago. TBH, it was a relief. So I'm not the greatest fan of the day. Has always been about pretenses for me.
( , Wed 10 Jun 2009, 13:35, Reply)

so fail to give a crap.
( , Wed 10 Jun 2009, 13:53, Reply)

The grammar still bugs me tho.
( , Wed 10 Jun 2009, 13:57, Reply)

If my dad was still alive, I still wouldn't give a shit. There are better things to be concerned with...like why are dragonflies called dragonflies when they're clearly not part dragon.
( , Wed 10 Jun 2009, 14:01, Reply)

Biological dad died 2yrs ago. He was a crap dad. Step-dad had an affair with a 16yr old girl. Almost destroyed the rest of my family. Urgh the pretense of buying cards just to avoid awkwardness.
I completely agree with the dragonflies. You expect more from the name than a big flying stick.

Like "no job to small" etc.
And can't find much to support me being the most right on the internet. Except that in the states it is "Father's Day" - and that's American, so it must be wrong, and my way is right.
The distraction kitty is here tho now, so I guess I'll never know! ... Come here kitty!!
