I found it easy reading
which after not having time for more challenging stuff like the Glass Books and the Dream Eaters (a favourite of mine) meant I enjoyed it because I was able to escape for a few hours without having to concentrate too hard. But they weren't very well written I agree.

I'm not going to get started on Twilight
because I can rant for hours (purple prose, anti-feminist, fucked up relationship, rape of vampire lore).

Sergei Lukanyenko's vampire books FTW.

cos in all honesty I don't really care about all that crap - they were just a good escape when I needed one.
