but I genuinely think that his earlier stuff was far superior; the last few have been written in a style that gets on my nerves and is really quite formulaic. But even so I'd rather pick up a crap Pratchett than half the stuff that's in the so-called book charts. I think Nightwatch was the last one I really enjoyed.

I didn't think he would top that, but I think Feet of Clay was better. Then they have been consistently very good.

but like I say - I think the Moist von Lipwig and Tiffany Aching novels (and Nation) weren't nearly as good as his earlier stuff. But, you know - meh, that's just my opinion. Personally, I would rather he wrote 2 or 3 more awesome books before he has to retire rather than churning out 5 or 6 progressively more crap ones.
I didn't think there was a new one out this year, but apparently there is, and it's about football. For all I'm moaning, I will be in the queue at Waterstones first thing on release day...
