with the growth of coal in the third world without CCS we will never stop climate change
the UK is the best place to develop it, we have offshore expertise from oil and gas, empty oil well nearby in north sea and r&d engineering expertise in world leading universities.
We need to renew energy plant NOW to avoid shortages in 2014-2015 (nukes going offline and eu large combustion plant directive switching off coal plant) and we wont fill the gap with renewables in the short period so will need new fossill fuels so without capture they will be massive pollutants.
we need flexible plant to switch on and off during peak times. renewables are intermitent and cannot be relied on for peak power.
we can create lots of jobs soon through rapid deployment, we are already maxing renewables as bottlenecks are turbine supply and planning delays.
thank you for listening.

It was about Ed Miliband calling it clean coal which suggests that it is on a similar level with renewable energy as it misleads people that don't have the time, inclination or intelligence to research the area.

Actually, you've got a photo on your profile.
You seem to have a cup face.

It IS "clean coal"?
You told me it wasn't.
You said "NO POWERSTATION IS TOTALLY CLEAN, you awful penis".
What's going on here?
Is is clean? Is it not clean? Is it a bit clean, but still kinda dirty?

I love how if someone disagrees with you they are a mouthbreather. Can we see your degrees/experience when it comes to this sort of thing so we know that you know what you're talking about? Or is this just OPINIONS? ONLINE? FROM A MEAT PUPPET?

THE CLIMATE CHANGES, IT ALWAYS HAS AND ALWAYS WILL.
do you realise that geologically speaking we are in a rare short period where there is polar ice?
yes, you may well call it semantics and say that you mean anthropogenic climate change, but even so, there are still an awful lot of scientists who highly doubt we are having any effect, much less the effect claimed.
Without a huge consensus, who are we to demand that developing countries don't use their abundant natural resources such as coal to drag themselves out of the dark ages. Who are we to force onto them over-priced inefficient methods of generating electricity?

get away from here.

Fine no one else will know you are an idiot. But we will both know *nods knowingly*

1) Learn to spell.
2) Learn to punctuate.
3) Please stop being a cunt.
Then I might actually give your article the time of day.

They are used for 'peak lopping' which is a phrase used to mean that they are used only when there is a peak of demand. Mostly they are gas turbine powered and are remotely run.
I used to build the control systems for them.
