I had a genius, life-saving idea this morning

I've figured out how to save hundreds of lives on the roads each year.

All you need to do is to attach one of those fish emblems to the back of all boy-racer and salesmen's cars. From empirical research, I have discovered that no car with the fish emblem on it is capable of driving more than 10m.p.h. BELOW the speed limit in any given area - though in a 30m.p.h. area, they sometimes creep over 25m.p.h.

What do you think?

Good idea, but it has a flaw
The problem with speeding is not the actual speed itself (OK, it is in some circumstances, but bear with me), it's in many cases the speed difference.

If everyone did 60mph on single carriageway A roads, where it's safe to do so, then there would be fewer accidents as there would be less overtaking. In my hundreds of thousands of miles of driving, most near misses I've seen have been due to people overtaking slower traffic.

One little old biddy in her Micra doing 45mph when most folk want to do 60 can cause a lot of bother.

Except for lorries
which can only do 40mph and being longer are harder to overtake.
