not only bad things happen at night
Not quite in the spirit of the qotw question so I’ll drop it here instead.
A couple of good friends of mine life in deepest, darkest Suffolk, where streetlights are for the bustling urban metropolis such as Bury. Or Diss.
Because of this you get absolutely no light pollution, and in full moons it can be eerily bright and looking at the sky you don't get yer usual twinkling individual stars, but you can see the fainter clusters as well and the whole sky can be awash with them. An awesome sight indeed, especially if you are rolling out of the pub at 1am and have a couple of miles to walk back.

So there we were, wandering home looking at the stars chatting as we strolled up the hill when we could hear rustling from the field close by, we all stopped and looked to be confronted by a massive silhouette of a stag watching us, and behind him a herd of deer all stock still and looking in our direction. This went on for a couple of minutes, until the stag turned and ran, and the whole herd of deer thundered off over the hill and away, was way fucking awesome!

second most awesome thing
was driving home at dusk last year when i saw a pigeon coming towards me, thinking "thats an odd looking pigeon" until it clicked that it was in fact a whacking great big barn owl, so I slowed down and watched this fantastic bird whistle past and spent the next few days grinning like an idiot

we have an owl living in my shed,
he comes over to the house to say hi sometimes. Beautiful creatures, owls are.
