Evening all
One letter fancy dress is always good, I have a few stock costumes (pirate, postman, Death) that can generally be shoehorned into any letter if I'm feeling lazy, and something can generally be made up if I'm feeling adventurous.
As for my own favourite theme, my 18th (stealing the idea from my sister's 21st) was a casino party, a couple friends manning the tables, one doing cocktails (rotating every so often as they got bored), each person given 500 chips, and a prize for the winner at the end (an inflatable shark if I remember rightly.). Went perfectly, aside from everyone ganging up against one friend to make sure he didn't get the prize, and some slight misunderstandings about the rules of blackjack meaning it was somewhat easier to win.
The great thing is, if you don't want to get involved, its just a nice cocktail party.

I've always wanted a cocktail party, with cocktail dresses and men in suits.
Some of my friends at uni had a black and white party and that was all of the awesome (including a papier-maché penguin to hold a bowl of Ferrero Rocher and christened Jeeves). They are the same girls who made a cocktail known as Ship n' Wrecked that turned everything it touched a strange shade of blue...

It's always best to agree on the rules of a game before you play it.
I once tried to remember the rules of Shithead from memory and it was only once we were playing that we realised I must have forgotten a rule or two.

I can never remember how to play Shithead. Ever.
The rules seem to change by region...

Don't tell me they have regional variants too!
It's been so long since I played it that I've almost completely forgotten about it.

Well, Leicester Shithead, where I grew up, is different to southern Shithead
that I played at uni, something about how you shuffle...

My Shithead was polished Oop North
So it should really be called Shitehead.

They do, as does the name
(Fuck it, Burnout, etc)
Generally though, so long as you have the 3 face up/3 face down, a transparent card, a reset card, and a burning card things work well.
