I finally caved and queued for over two and a half hours this morning outside Bristol museum in order to see the works that Banksy is showing the people for free.
Conclusion: it was like being shepherded round an A-level art display. I failed to see the meaning, wit or subversive message behind most of the stuff ("oh look, it's a replica of Michaelangelo's 'David' but he's wearing a bomb vest, man, that's a statement or something!"). I also failed to see how I was socking it to The Man by queuing in an orderly fashion behind crash barriers for 190 minutes to see a Council-sanctioned exhibition. There was only one CDC and it wasn't the requisite magenta. There is far more interesting, intelligent and satirical artwork on /board. Also, my internal dialogue kept turning into Tom Paulin as I walked around muttering "it works on a number of levels" in a bored voice.
The interesting bit was seeing the stencils and work drawings. The rest of it just made me think that Banksy is the Bono of the art world. The funniest thing I saw was the price tag of £12 for 5 postcards in the giftshop. They'd sold out too.

I'm not a fan of zoos but watching a monkey hurl shit would have been more productive.

and aquaria (or is it aquariums?)
I'd heard the banksy exhibition was good, but that was from someone who has suspect taste in things. he asked me if I'd watch the tour de france at the weekend a little while back. "why on earth would I want to do that?" was my response.

Many fish tanks.
Aquariums is more frequently used as the plural of "Fish Zoos".

and I have a lot of respect for those who do it, but why the hell would I want to watch it?

And very tactical and skillful, and they are all smart blokes so the post race interviews are more interesting than football.

however watching tactics unfold over a day long stage of a bike race isn't my idea of an enjoyable thing to watch. On the rare occasions that I'll watch football it's extremely unlikely that I'll watch the post match interviews.

He bought a bike and now he thinks he's Bradley Wiggins.

You'll be less middle-class if you're not double-barrelled.
