Of the many issues that I'm sure we all could point out with this I feel qualified to comment on:
You won't have any TV as the Space Center in Houston will cut off
satellite communications.:

This right here should disqualify the poster on "Not knowing what the fuck they're talking about" grounds, Television satellite uplinking is done from many locations ("Teleports") across the US, see www.worldteleport.org/displaycommon.cfm?an=1&subarticlenbr=32 if you're interested in further details but below is a summary:

Arqiva:
Washington Teleport - Washington, Dictrict of Columbia, USA

Intelsat:
Intelsat Riverside - California, USA
Intelsat Clarksburg - Maryland, USA
Intelsat Mountainside - Hagarstown, Maryland, USA
Intelsat Atlanta - Georgia, USA
Intelsat Fillmore - California, USA
Intelsat Napa - California, USA
Intelsat Castle Rock - Denver, Colorado, USA
Intelsat Paumalu- Hawaii, USA

RRSat Global Communications Network, Ltd.:
Hawley Earth Station - Hawley, Pennsylvania, USA

SES:

SES New Skies, Bristow, Virginia, USA
SES Americom Brewster, Washington (State), USA
