I really don't understand why people go so bat shit crazy over the first Stone Roses Album.

but I don't like Northern Monkeys...

beats everything with a stick. Ian Brown is a talentless monkey.
He was recently quoted saying he would only reform the Stone Roses if he was begging on the street. Which was slightly redundant since Squire had previously unveiled a piece of artwork stating that he would never desecrate the grave of the stone roses.

Brown's solo work clearly shows that he's anything but a prick. Swaggering / yes with a slight dollop of annoyance.
Mani and Reni can also be considered to hold it with the best.
I was around Manchester during the late 80's and 90's, the Roses picked up from the Smith's and brought things forward.
Oasis apparently took up their baton – did they shite. They never expanded but repeated the same tired formula to death, with sad delusions of being in the spirit of the Beatles thrown in for good measure

Eg, Happy Mondays. Fucking loved them, but then Black Grape was created and that created a quandary. Devotion to both bands seemed a bit wrong since they were essentially the same band, only slightly different.
Or Primal Scream since screamadelica...worth it or not?

had a spark of something at the beginning, but most of their stuff is shite mainly due to them injecting crack into their eyeballs, salford twats that they are.

I remember seeing Bez at pretty much every festival I went to over a 3 year period in the late nineties and wondering how the fuck he did it.

lots and lots
He's still a regular around the northern quarter in Manchester.
I still see Mani knocking around Chorlton.
Both alive but showing their years.
