Hello people
So, I am in AA.

Yay me.

Also am kind of ruining the second 'A' of that by sharing this, but never mind.

It's fun being me.

So, how are you?

Oh...
I had wondered where you'd been lately :\
I dunno what you say to something like this. "Good Luck"?

I'm moving to Wales on Saturday.

Thank god I am sober in London at least

You're gonna miss me so much.
You're only laughing to hide the tears.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 10:28, Reply)
Absolutely, because I get to see you so much these days anyway.
You huge tard.

*nods*
It'll be ok, don't worry.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 10:36, Reply)
It's going to be fine.
Meeting once a year is enough.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 10:46, Reply)
'Good luck'
works for me. Thank you.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 10:28, Reply)
How's stuff been, other than that?

(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 10:33, Reply)
Only just realised who you are
you daft bastard!

Thanks mate.

I have a family member who's just started AA.
It seems to be doing her good so keep it up and you may become an upstanding member of the community just like the rest of us : )
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 10:39, Reply)
I wanted to join AA
but my friends and family laughed at the idea. I dont drink excessively but I do feel that alchohol has a hold on me and I would love to be teetotal.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 10:43, Reply)
How can alcohol be a problem for you if you don't abuse it?

(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 10:46, Reply)
YOU'RE JUST LIKE HIS FRIENDS AND FAMILY :(

(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 10:46, Reply)
I'm not laughing at him, I'm just curious.

(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 10:48, Reply)
having a hold
doesn't necessarily mean abusing.

Feeling the need to drink even a pint a day is enough
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:03, Reply)
I dont abuse it yet
I feel that it has a hold on me and that it is only my force of will that stops me from being an alchoholic. How much longer can I keep the willpower up?
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 10:51, Reply)
The fact that you can use your willpower so far is a good sign.
You may just need counselling rather than the AA.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 10:55, Reply)
I'm the same!
Although it does cause me a fair bit of grief. Mainly financially but I feel I can't make it through the weekend without getting fairly darn drunk.

Then on Monday instead of fresh and full of beans I'm all lethargic and grumpy. The few weekends I do stay off the booze you can tell the difference come Monday morning I can tell you.

Not enough to warrant AA, a more suitable acronym may be MTFU!
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:03, Reply)
Amen to that

(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:20, Reply)
I've been to AA.
Decided it wasn't for me.

Too many sob stories.

My life is in order - job, girlfriend, good friends, good family relationships etc.

If that shit starts to fuck-up then I'll maybe go back.

I drink pretty much everyday.

Dont know if this helps - context, maybe?

It may sound silly but I would drink more often if I wasn't trying to lose weight.

(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 10:51, Reply)
That doesnt sound silly at all
2 things that help me stay off the booze:

1) I dont want to be a fatty.
2) I cant read when i've had a drink (the lines go wavy and my concentration goes)
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 10:53, Reply)
Doesnt sound silly at all!
I would eat more if I didnt want to get any fatter and/or lower the amount I drink any further.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 10:54, Reply)
It is scary when you feel the need to drink more often.
But some of us are lucky in that we are strong enough to not give in.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 10:57, Reply)
There are too many responses
To reply to one at a time.

But this has made me laugh and cry at times.

Thanks, B3ta Bastards. Keep up the good work.

See you at a bash with a Lemonade in my hand soon.

Good luck Scarpe
It must have been quite an ordeal that has got you to the point of doing something about it, but I wish you all the very best for getting through this.

Next bash I'll buy you an orange juice.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:40, Reply)
Good on you for facing a problem.
Many who need to admit that are unable to take that step. I admire you for doing so.

Good luck.
