So, I am in AA.
Yay me.
Also am kind of ruining the second 'A' of that by sharing this, but never mind.
It's fun being me.
So, how are you?

I had wondered where you'd been lately :\
I dunno what you say to something like this. "Good Luck"?
I'm moving to Wales on Saturday.

It seems to be doing her good so keep it up and you may become an upstanding member of the community just like the rest of us : )

but my friends and family laughed at the idea. I dont drink excessively but I do feel that alchohol has a hold on me and I would love to be teetotal.

doesn't necessarily mean abusing.
Feeling the need to drink even a pint a day is enough

I feel that it has a hold on me and that it is only my force of will that stops me from being an alchoholic. How much longer can I keep the willpower up?

You may just need counselling rather than the AA.

Although it does cause me a fair bit of grief. Mainly financially but I feel I can't make it through the weekend without getting fairly darn drunk.
Then on Monday instead of fresh and full of beans I'm all lethargic and grumpy. The few weekends I do stay off the booze you can tell the difference come Monday morning I can tell you.
Not enough to warrant AA, a more suitable acronym may be MTFU!

Decided it wasn't for me.
Too many sob stories.
My life is in order - job, girlfriend, good friends, good family relationships etc.
If that shit starts to fuck-up then I'll maybe go back.
I drink pretty much everyday.
Dont know if this helps - context, maybe?

2 things that help me stay off the booze:
1) I dont want to be a fatty.
2) I cant read when i've had a drink (the lines go wavy and my concentration goes)
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 10:53, Reply)
I would eat more if I didnt want to get any fatter and/or lower the amount I drink any further.

But some of us are lucky in that we are strong enough to not give in.

To reply to one at a time.
But this has made me laugh and cry at times.
Thanks, B3ta Bastards. Keep up the good work.
See you at a bash with a Lemonade in my hand soon.

It must have been quite an ordeal that has got you to the point of doing something about it, but I wish you all the very best for getting through this.
Next bash I'll buy you an orange juice.

Many who need to admit that are unable to take that step. I admire you for doing so.
Good luck.
