Dead Snow
I have recently seen a few trailers and bits of advertising for this zombie film Dead Snow which is out on DVD now. I've just read a bit of a random write-up and it sounds quite weird. I was wondering whether anyone had seen it and has an opinion they would like to share!?

If you haven't seen it, what horror films have you seen recently that you though were either A-MAZING or shitty poo poo?

I don't remember... :\
I was very drunk. I remember Nazis, snow and gore though.

Fair doos, I may try it out. If I don't like it I can pass it off to my friend Terri, she'll watch anything!

If you're lucky,
I might be able to get you a copy of it tonight, I'm going to see a mate who has it on his computer.

(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:42, Reply)
I'm not bothered by gore
I want a film that makes me absolutely petrified with suspense, and then jump out of my skin like a jack-in-the-box.
What's good for that?
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:34, Reply)
Possibly
The Strangers!? I wasn't too fussed as the whole film was fearful build up, but you might like it!?

As for gore... I think there is only a guy getting his head blown off and you don't really see it so I don't think its too much of a gore-fest!?
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:36, Reply)
So, it's like the 'up' bit of a roller-coaster for ages?
I likes that. Ta.
And hellos btw.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:37, Reply)
Yeah, I would say so!
Apparently it is also based on a true story, although I am not so sure how true that is... its probably true in the sense that one day, two people when in a house and some people turned up and annoyed them.

Hellos back atcha! How goes everything? Well I hope!
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:39, Reply)
Everything's hunkydory thanks
What's new with you?

Ooh have you seen that Spanish one about the couple who go to view an apartment? I think it's called 'To Let'. I've forgotten how to say that in Spanish.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:42, Reply)
Glad to hear it!
I am super thank you, back at work now after two weeks off, feels very strange!?!

Ooooh no I haven't seen that, I shall investigate! Thank you! :)

(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:55, Reply)
Ah cool thank you!!
I got married to DiT so we had a week off to organise and then the week after the wedding off to chill out and spend vouchers of joy! Woop!
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:58, Reply)
I only found out afterwards because I don't keep up with things on here all the time.
I did say a congrats, honest.
You had a couch hol! I loves them.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 12:02, Reply)
Haha
Panic not and thanks for the congrats! :)

Couch hols are super fun, although I suppose it was more of a pub hol than a couch hol... we were out quite a bit!! Hehe

Start as you mean to go on...
I got a bit emotional there and heard the lyrics to 'Bring me Sunshine'. I'm insane today.

Hehe
Are you insane today for any particular reason?

It's when your Grandpa says
"What the friggin' 'ell's wrong with 'er?? She's gonna have a convulsion. She's like that Icelandic crank who should've been locked in the the attic."

Giggled
When guy got bit on the hand and cut it off, cauterizing it in the fire. Then he got bit on the knob.

edit: stupid reply thing. Why doesn't it know I'm a spacktard?
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:39, Reply)
Ahhhh
Now I have heard about this bit, sounds weird and similar to the scene in The Dreamcatcher when a guy gets his knob bit off by an alien and pisses blood all over the snow!
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:40, Reply)
The Strangers
is a great big pile of wank and shit.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:37, Reply)
You didn't like it
and neither did I really but that doesn't mean that everyone else will hate it! :)
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:42, Reply)
Average
but not too bad.

Eden Lake was rather good.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 12:05, Reply)
That's my opinion
The first sort of 30 minutes were good, the build up was nice but then nothing really came of it, plus it just ended! There's a The Strangers 2 apparently happening!! Gar!!
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 12:08, Reply)
The Children
was also very average, but not too bad.

Something about an odd virus, kids getting infected and going a bit psycho
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 12:11, Reply)
Sounds like I need to catch up on my horror viewings
DiT doesn't really like horror films so I have to wait until I'm alone in the flat and then go to town!! Hehe
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 12:20, Reply)
House of 1000 Corpses and The Devils Rejects
Rob Zombie is the Tarantino of horror.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:42, Reply)
I have seen The Devils Rejects I think
Do they get photos stapled to them at some point!? Is that the right film or am I thinking of something else?! And a woman gets a gun put in her pants in a hotel room!?
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:43, Reply)
That's the one.
See House Of 1000 Corpses - it's beautiful.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:49, Reply)
Ba-Zing
I have seen it then, just a long time ago! I remember thinking it was pretty good. One of my friends is a MASSIVE Rob Zombie fan so made me watch it.

I'll watch most horror-related films, but I'm not a fan of the Saw films.

I particularly like Japanaese horror films and Ichi the Killer was probably the weirdest film I have ever seen in my life!
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:56, Reply)
Halloween
His version of that was also most impressive.

Also, check out Tetsuo 2: Bodyhammer for crazy japaneseness
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 12:05, Reply)
Cool stuff!
I have seen his version of Halloween, I concur, it was impressive!! :)

Hmmm... I shall investigate Tetsuo 2, thank you!!
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 12:10, Reply)
Nazis aren't quite as funny when they're not doing a muscial number
I haven't seen it, but I'd go so far as to suggest that it probably needs a little Mel Brooks.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:42, Reply)
And
jazz hands!! Everything needs jazz hands!!

The Final Destination
Best comedy I've seen in AGES.

Lacks the originality of the first. The plot of the second (it wasn't even that good, but you know, it was better than the others...). The...toasters of the third.

You had no idea what the fuck the main characters were doing. The deaths felt like homages to the former ones. But it was genuinely hilarious, like a redneck being dragged down a street on fire to the tune of "Why Can't We Be Friends" after trying to kill a security guard he blames for the death of his wife...
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 11:59, Reply)
Oooh...
Did you see it IN THREE-DEE?
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 12:00, Reply)
Yes I did
The characters went to see a film IN THREE-DEE and got really excited.

The best bit was when a man fell over backwards onto a bit of wood and got speared through the mouth. I thought I was going to hit my eyes >_<

Also, I always pronounced Kaol as "Kay-oh-l"; is that wrong?
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 12:04, Reply)
It's a secret,
Powerful mystery.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 12:07, Reply)
I always thought cauls were bad.
In one of my favourite books as a child, one of the characters says "My mother was only half a witch, alas; she was born only partially in a caul" so I thoguht they were evil. Apparently they're good omens.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 12:09, Reply)
That may be so,
But a "cawl" is something different entirely, google it.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 12:11, Reply)
THAT'S SO CLEVER

(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 12:19, Reply)
Don't
encourage him!!
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 12:21, Reply)
No need to encourage me.

(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 14:34, Reply)
Sounds 'special'
Was it is 3D too!? Ooooooooh 3D!! :)

I have only seen the first Final Destination film, that was pretty good!
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 12:01, Reply)
Second one's pretty good, actually
As in it's got a half-way decent twist that's not "OH GOD IT'S A NOTHER PREMONITION" and ties in with the first film. The others are just people-escaping-death-then-dying-in-funny-ways.
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 12:05, Reply)
Hmmm
I may give it a chance then! My mother has the box set and keeps trying to get me to borrow it! Haha!
(, Thu 3 Sep 2009, 12:09, Reply)
Ichi the Killer
Which is more gorey thriller than "Horror" but it made me wince and hurt more than any horror I've watched since I was a kid. Also some of the sexual stuff was pretty disturbing.

Horrors were much better then because the likes of American Werewolve in London was *actually* believable. You also didn't really notice the outrageous stupidity that some characters display.
