we had people trying to play air-cowbell at our gig on friday

well, they weren't very good at doing it in time
and at one point, after noticing them, our drummer changed what he was doing, not playing the cowbell when they expected it (song features a lot of cowbell) thus making them look like fools.

Drummers can be so mean
I remember a guy telling me about when they used to play in dance bands and when doing a waltz they would slip in a bar of five and then watch as everyone totally lost the beat.
