I'm going to be out at a meeting for most of the day
what are you doing that removes you from the relative comfort of your desk?
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 9:04, 40 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
Opening my pension!
:D
I can't believe that. A student with a pension. Fuckin' ridiculous. I don't WANT to live long enough to require one!
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 9:11, Reply)
why on earth are you starting a pension now?
you'll need all the spare money you can get
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 9:17, Reply)
My aunt gave me a 21st birthday present early
Which was a cheque to start my pension with.

I'm sure I'll thank her one day.
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 9:21, Reply)
I'm sure
;-)
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 9:24, Reply)
My dad is fierce on the subject of starting your pension as early as possible
Money saved at 20 is worth twice as much as if it were saved at 35.
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 10:34, Reply)
What is it with dads and pensions
all mine does is bang on about his pensions! He does have many of them!
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 10:37, Reply)
Right so I'm a graduate
Now aged 24. Tell me internet how much I should be putting into a pension!? I don't have one!!!!!!! I don't even save!
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 10:59, Reply)
Hmmm...
I think most people tend to put in about £100ish a month... well, from what other people have told me! I am 25 and my company pension is being held for a year because of the recession, but I think I have about £500 in it! Hahahaha
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 11:06, Reply)
Bah
Why is everything so expensive!!
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 11:16, Reply)
Exactly
I want a guarantee that I am going to live to benefit from my pension first. If I am sure I'll live that long then I'll start properly saving.
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 11:21, Reply)
It's this sort of attitude
That will cause your over-burdened grandchildren to smother you with a pillow.
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 11:27, Reply)
Meh
If they smother me it won't be because of that. They'll probably smother me for being a cantankerous old windbag. I'm going to be an evil old person, running around force-feeding everyone mints and hitting the young with a stick and generally saying what’s on my mind.
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 11:31, Reply)
They didn't let me :(
I've not got a job, y'see.
It's gone into the ISA and will be paid in as soon as I'm eligible.
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 10:59, Reply)
HSBC will let you open a pension if you have no job.
You just have to be able to afford a regular contribution, which may not help you. :)
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 11:19, Reply)
I got in 40 minutes late today,
my boss is going to be 2 hours late,
score!
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 10:06, Reply)
I'm hotdesking today
So I'm playing 'receptionist' for the morning, 'records assistant' for about 2 hours after lunch and then 'marketing assistant' for the remainder of the day! I feel like Eliza Dushku in Dollhouse, but I’ve been programmed to do really shit jobs! Ho-hum.
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 10:13, Reply)
I've watched the first 5 or so episodes of Doll house
I don't know if I like it or,
really fucking hate it.
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 10:29, Reply)
Haha
You are not alone with this opinion. I have probably seen about 4 episodes and am not sure about it! I was drawn to watch it as I liked Eliza Dushku in other things, like I was a big fan of Tru Calling until it was cancelled.
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 10:33, Reply)

d, other things, like I was a big fan of Tru Calling until it was cancelled. skimpy lingerie, being all experimental with both me and my husband. Oh yeah.
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 11:18, Reply)
Hmmm...
Not since she put that restraining order out. Now you're not allowed to be within 500 miles of her.

It's amazing, and very twisted for a kiddie book.
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 11:19, Reply)
I've only seen the film
*red face*
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 11:22, Reply)
I haven't even seen the film
Is it good? I have heard good things! DiT has read the book and liked it lots!
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 11:24, Reply)
I loved the film
I'm glad I didn't take any of the younger kids I know because there were some really dark/scary bits. E's 11 so she was cool.
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 11:28, Reply)
Coooool!
The trailer did look wicked! I shall also get around to reading the book someday!

You're helping me
For you, I want to be the best I can be.
*montage*
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 11:52, Reply)
Hahaha
Now I have an image in my head of you in a barn lifting stuff and running up a mountain in the snow a la Rocky IV!
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 11:55, Reply)
That's what I'm doing.
But in the office.
With books.
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 11:58, Reply)

NOW... LUNCH!

*aways*
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 12:05, Reply)
I read the book in a day
I'm a fast reader, but it's undemanding and easy to read. And amazingly twisted.
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 11:35, Reply)
The film's excellent.
The book has one of the best lines I've EVER read in children's literature.

"I swear it on my mother's grave."
"And does your mother have a grave?"
"Why yes, I put her there myself, and when I caught her trying to get out, I put her back in."
(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 11:32, Reply)
: )

(, Wed 9 Sep 2009, 11:34, Reply)
unfortunately
i am spending most of my day away from my desk.

I've already taught one class, been to pick up a translation, quick desk-stop, before leaving for another class and returning after lunch
