I've got a twelve year old 106. But i'm buying a new one sooneither just before, or just after christmas. I don't know what to buy.

well, in my experiencediesel cars made by the VW/Audi group are the way to go. My seat toledo is a really nice drive and efficient. I've driven various golfs and such and they were all good. ditto skodas.
I've driven a lot of small and medium sized diesel cars and the german ones win all round.
