If cows don't want to be eaten then they shouldn't be a) so badly camouflaged and b) so damn tasty, especially rare with a peppercorn sauce.

and having stuck it out for 29 years, I can confidently tell you Quorn would be a reasonable alternative if you were never going to eat meat again. It's nothing compared to the taste and texture of meat, but it's better than nothing.

Fish are cold blooded, so they're fine to eat. Chickens are so ugly and stupid (they don't even have the sense to die when you pull their heads off) so they deserve to be eaten. I'm uncomfortable eating fluffy animals with appealing eyes.

A few years ago, I remember him arguing with a staunch veggie. His point was that since cows are herbivores, then eating beef/steak was a matter of eating recycled grass. He almost had the veggie convinced :)
