and a lot of modern art falls into that category I'm sure.
However, in free form jazz there is some skill involved, and there is form of a kind in there, and being able to play in an atonal way actually involves a lot of skill.
Whereas literally anyone can sleep in a bed and then not make it.

it's not skillful to paint squares. But I would definitely say it was art, and I wouldn't think of doing it, but he did.
There are lots of really simple paintings, just line drawings, that you could argue don't take any real skill, but again, they are art.
The problem with the bed thing is that nobody in the media would try and explain this to people since.

and other such things, but there is a very subtle difference that I can't quite explain, between that sort of stuff and the bed thing.
Ultimately though, it the bed is art, because it is heralded as such. That's about all it boils down to.
