I deliberately made sure that I wouldn't watch that 'school of comedy' the other night, because like al, I was convinced that it would be shit, and I objected to children's television being shown late at night. However, based on your recommendation I accidentally stumbled upon the repeat tonight and decided to watch it, only confirming my original pre-judgement. What an unmitigated barrel of putrid shite it really is, and now I feel the urge to beat both you and the irritating, goofy little twat from the show to death with a sackful of foetuses. You total bastard, I want my fifteen minutes back.

A well balanced critique, with just the right amount of vitriol.

I'm a lovely, kind, affectionate, sweet homosexual with a large and overbearing propensity for fluff, hugs and love, but school of "comedy" is in actual fact an abomination somewhere a few leagues below Phonejacker in the humour stakes.

because I thought phonejacker was an enormous piece of shit.
I will have to watch another school of comedy and see what happens.

Make it look incredibly shit, the usual dire stuff that Channel 4 put out in the name of comedy. So in a rare moment of agreement, i'm with Bert.

We will have none of this "I accept your views are different" bullshit on here. Vipros will concede that he's totally wrong on this matter.

without further research.
also, that art is subjective thing only goes so far. A fucking unmade bed is not art, Emin you fucking piece of shit.

and I conceded that actually it could be considered art, but in order to know that you would have to have a good knowledge of art history and where the concept came from.
I compared it to listening to free form jazz, compared to Kenny G. If you know nothing about music, you may just say, "anyone can blow random notes out of time" but if you do know about music, you will be able to spot the form and atonality in the free form music.
However, Tracey Emin herself is such an objectionable retard that she can fuck off and die any time she likes and I wouldn't care a jot.

and a lot of modern art falls into that category I'm sure.
However, in free form jazz there is some skill involved, and there is form of a kind in there, and being able to play in an atonal way actually involves a lot of skill.
Whereas literally anyone can sleep in a bed and then not make it.
I fully agree with your view of Tracey Emin

it's not skillful to paint squares. But I would definitely say it was art, and I wouldn't think of doing it, but he did.
There are lots of really simple paintings, just line drawings, that you could argue don't take any real skill, but again, they are art.
The problem with the bed thing is that nobody in the media would try and explain this to people since.
(, Thu 8 Oct 2009, 9:27, Reply)
and other such things, but there is a very subtle difference that I can't quite explain, between that sort of stuff and the bed thing.
Ultimately though, it the bed is art, because it is heralded as such. That's about all it boils down to.

Everyone knows it's a load of old toss turned out by a gurning simpleton but no-one dares admit it. That's my theory on Emin et al.
