I've been revising my Anvil, and not to be cruel, but you can see why they ever really made it big. Saxon on the other hand, are seriously underated.

You are correct on both counts
The Anvil vocals and lyrics are pretty shite - but Biff and co deserved more than they got. That said I know nothing of their output from the last 20 years, apart from the frankly awful 'rock'n'roll gypsy' single that my brother got for 50p once. But for Denim & Leather and Wheels of Steel alone they get my vote.

They moved to a more "commercial" sound
in the mid 80s and early 90s but they missed to boat and never made it in the US and their UK fans didn't like the change, personally I think some of the late 80s early 90s stuff is really good. But the albums weren't that consistent which I guess put people off, but if you compiled a best of you would end up with dozens of decent tracks, certainly more than they could play live in a single show, and The Inner Sanctum was a great return to form, sort of on a par with Judas Priest's Angel of Retribution, and their latest is okay, but not as good as Inner Sanctum.
