Ugh, because I'm not on bc, she made me take a test before putting me on antibiotics, asked about my parters
asked about my status then suggested I try to practice abstinence, if not for myself then for my future, in case I want to get married etc etc

seriously? just give me the fucking meds, it's not like I'm here ASKING FOR ADVICE
I know what a condom is, how to use it, and I do. This still has absolutely nothing to do with my chest cold.

Mine asked if I needed a supply of condoms
I don't, as boyf has been snipped, but the look on docs face was priceless when I told him he was 60! He thought by "older man" I meant around 45

Your boyfriend is 60?
I'd call that a manfriend.

Abstinence can fuck off - I'll abstain if I want, not if the doctor wants!
I'm not a huge fan of doctors - don't currently have a GP - and will only go if something is actually hanging off me or I suspect I'm dying. They don't care too much for me either!

Seriously, she looked like a mormon, I wanted to punch her in her stupid blonde head.
I don't go unless I'm seriously ill, and I was pretty sick when I went--had been coughing, wheezing, sniffling for about two weeks, still took two weeks after than to get somewhat back to normal.
Cunt.

Sounds like some of the ones I've seen - doctors can have really strange ideas about
sex and life in spite of knowing the actual facts! The last thing you want when you think you're ill is, after all, someone telling you you're just fine when you know you're not. Do second opinions cost you in the US?
(, Tue 17 Nov 2009, 20:04, Reply)
It costs the first and the second, unless you go to the free clinic...which is basically for poor pregnant teens, homeless people and drug addicts. It kind of scares me.
If you don't have insurance it costs you out of the wazoo for hospital visits, but thankfully there is a relatively cheap office with loads of doctors you can go to around here. Which is where she was.
I just remembered she wasn't even a doctor, she was a resident.

Ahh. I think it costs here but the last time I recall having one I was 5 and it wasn't my decision.
If she wasn't even a doctor, even more reason for her to be considered to be talking out of her arse, says I... nurses with ideas above their station are also shockingly bad.

oh god oh god NURSES
My friend's grandfather is in ICU, they thought he was going to die and when we went to go visit him the nurse in that station totally bitched us out, told me and her boyfriend to go wait in the waiting area. Waiting Room Nazi, I called her after that.
(, Tue 17 Nov 2009, 20:18, Reply)
They are ALL NAZIS.
The one who used to replenish my pill supply at uni used to act like treating me was more than her job's worth because I clearly should be able to do these things by ESP...

Obviously we can treat ourselves, christ all we need is some TUSSIN, RIGHT?!

(, Tue 17 Nov 2009, 20:28, Reply)
is that robutussin?
the cough syrup?
(, Tue 17 Nov 2009, 20:32, Reply)
yeah, ya know "put some tussin on it"

(, Tue 17 Nov 2009, 20:36, Reply)
never heard that one before
but you can fix a sore throat by gargling with soluble aspirin
(, Tue 17 Nov 2009, 20:37, Reply)
Something else is also good for sore throats...
...as various male friends keep reminding me.
(, Tue 17 Nov 2009, 20:45, Reply)
Sorry about that - was on a conference call.
I was in the hospital a couple weeks ago overnight, I just got a bill for $4K, but as I'm officially "unemployed" there's a great program that means the bill is only $500. Yay!
