what follows is an honest question.
Is it really that good?

I don't think I'm missing out on much...
Is that the film with the 'rosebud' thing?!
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 16:13, Reply)
all manner of lists and people say it is the best film ever or something though. there must be something in it
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 16:15, Reply)
*wonders*
I did get in trouble today for saying I have never seen Moulin Rouge...
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 16:17, Reply)
ready for a shock?
I've never seen:
any godfather film
any rocky film
any rambo film
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 16:27, Reply)
I would totally recommend watching the Rocky films, they're 80's ace!
As for the Godfather trilogy, I said DiT should watch them and he didn't like the first film. There are a lot of characters to remember, but I love all gangster movies so I think they're great... but I know its not everyone’s tastes.
The Rambo films are pretty cool if you like a lot of violence in your action films! :)
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 16:30, Reply)
so I should watch the Godfather films.
I'm quite particularly about the sort of things I like to watch (or read) depending on my mood, and I've never had the opportunity to watch any of the aforementioned when I've been in the right mood.
Took me ages to see things like Usual Suspects, American Beauty and Memento too.
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 16:33, Reply)
the second is the best in my opinion though all three need to be watched. People give number three stick but actually its not a bad film, just compared to the other two its weak but actually on its own its a good film with a good story and ends the trilogy well.
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 16:36, Reply)
great film, just not as good as the first two
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 16:49, Reply)
a long, long time ago... I may need to try it again!
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 16:57, Reply)
I was 11 when it came out.
I still think its amazing. I think is way better than Aliens. Probably cos the suspense scared the shit out of me as a kid. I was running from the toilet and jumping on to my bed to stop the aliens grabbing me.
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 17:01, Reply)
one of my top five favourite films of all time! :)

looks like a load of gay old toss, I won't be watchig it ever.
Just in case you might have thought from my other posts that it was 'my kind of thing'.
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 16:34, Reply)
I'm never watching it!
I watched Twilight last night to keep a friend happy. My suspicions were confirmed, it was shit.
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 16:38, Reply)
I knew it would be but my friend Charlie kept texting me saying 'watch it, watch it, its on Sky, watch it'... so I did, to shut her up! She wasn't very impressed with my review.
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 16:49, Reply)
That I was NOT in the house while this was happening, and I object to my Sky subscription being used in this manner. Also, this is the FIRST I've heard of this behaviour, and I am deeply disappointed.

but I have seen the film about it starring John Malkovich.
I think the general consensus is that it's groundbreaking rather than excellent.
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 16:17, Reply)
it's a film you should watch because it's so influential and important.

1. A QOTW matter, replies have been enabled for such bitch fights on there to occur
2. Not a post by the original poster who would therefore have good reason to get upset ONLINE
3. Created in order to cause an argument with people who don't generally frequent this area of the internet when everyone knows that OT is for the fwuffy kittums and hugs and lasagne threads shirly

I've never watched because I have never had anyone tell me its actually enjoyable. I think they spaffed over it because "Film Students for Dummies" told them too.

People go on about it too much. It makes me stubbornly not watch it. I have it on video in my house and I will maybe one day watch it under special circumstances. I don't yet know what those special circumstances will be.

Try Seul Contre Tous (I Stand Alone) by Gasper Noe

(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 17:16, Reply)
it sets the scene for the second film, but isn't completely necessary.
But one to watch out for, and i am anticipating greatly, is the new Gasper Noe film, "Enter the Void", which a psychedelic, DMT soaked, eye popping spectacle of a film. Deffo one to catch in the cinema
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 17:22, Reply)
Everyone else loved it, people put it in the IMDB top 250 but I just couldn't get in to it. I felt nothing for any character. I've felt more for Keanu Reeves' characters
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 16:38, Reply)

It has everything - explosions, a wicked car chase, fancy cars, deception, explosions, motorbike-type-things, explosions, boobs (for the men), gun fights... did I mention the explosions! :D
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 16:52, Reply)
I found far too many continuity issues.
Plus its in the top 30 best films of all time on IMDB and it just doesn't deserve it.
And its crap. Yes my educated, well informed, well thought out opinion is, its crap.

Starship Troopers is good, but not as good as Performance.

I thought 'The man who fell to earth' was an excellent film. Sure, Bowie is a cunt, but i just pretended he was someone else, plus the fact he wasn't 'singing'. I love the way the alien from another planet quickly became a depressed alcoholic, bleak stuff.

He's only a cunt when he starts trying to sing or mix albums by the mighty Stooges.
(, Wed 18 Nov 2009, 17:18, Reply)
But only if you can get your head around the fact that the editing style and shots used were being used for the first time. The actual story itself is very simple, but it's the editing that makes it great.
