Well, the usual stuff.
Overtaking on the brow of a hill or near a blind corner, tailgating and intimidating drivers into getting out of your way, getting annoyed when people don't get out of your way, outrageously breaking the speed limit etc etc.

Well I wont do most that cos that's just asking to get killed!
However, I will be outrageously breaking the speed limit on a regular basis. I mean, what's the poin of having a bike with a 0-60 time of just under 4 seconds and a top speed of 140mph if you're not goign to use it!?

What's the point of having a 70mph speed limit?

(, Mon 30 Nov 2009, 11:09, Reply)
going 0-60 fast isn't breaking the law
doing 140 is just fucking stupid

My
last car would crack 60 in under 5 seconds and would see almost 190mph with the limiter disabled. I managed perfectly well without using that performance on a public road. Granted, I exercised it as the maker intended on track days and the like, but I kept it sensible on the road.

I've still got my licence, my life and more importantly I've not ruined anyone else's life. Save the mad speeds for those places that are intended for them.

I'm no more irresponsible
than any other group of bikers you see out on a weeked jaunt. I don't speed in areas that have an actual number on the speed limit sign, only where it says national speed limit. The chances of me hurting someone else on a road like that are slim, I'm miles more likely to harm myself, and that's a risk I'm willing to take (and so are many othe bikers, it's what makes us feel alive by being so close to death).

That attitude stinks.
The fact that you're even slightly irresponsible while riding a heavy, powerful machine like that astounds me. What makes you think your chances of hurting someone else are slim? Just because you've got a better chance of maiming yourself doesn't make it ok. I understand your reasoning and like a bit of adrenaline myself but if you tear around on roads doing more than the speed limit you're going to end up fucking yourself up, and you'll be lucky if you don't fuck someone else up too. If it's not someone in another vehicle it'll be your family, or the fireman who has to scrub your blood off the road. I hope I'm wrong but I've seen a fair number of accidents involving bikes and more than half involved another vehicle.

I'm fully aware this isn't an argument I can win.

No you can't, lol
Mainly cos I do this stuff with my dad who's been biking since he was 16, so it's not even like I have disapproving parents

Here in London
it apparently perfectly acceptable, nay, encouraged, for motorcyclists confronted with a lengthy queue at lights, simply to drive on the other side of the road, like a fucking Frenchman - I was reprimanded by one for not checking for people performing this manoeuvre, as I crossed the road, once.

Silly me!
