Yerp
I think I read about something similar to the following on this here pages not too long ago..

Anyway, what happens is I hear this brand new word or phrase that I just think, "Ooh, I've never really thought of that before", and then next thing you know it's appearing EVERYWHERE. From zero mention to every 5 flipping minutes.

For example, I'd never taken not of "say much but say nothing" before and then I saw it twice in like half an hour! It's mad!

I think mine stems from being a kid
and loving reading and learning what new words meant. I kept a dictionary by my bed so I could look up words I didn't know in the books I was reading. Now, when an interesting words appears, my brain does what the fuck it wants with it, kind of like it's trying to find a resting place but it's so bastard full of cliches there's no room.

this is a weird phenomenon
I hadn't heard the song Nobody does it better for years, and then in the space of 3 days last week it had been mentioned twice and I'd heard it on tv

This is a classic example of the human brain creating patterns where none exist

the word or song in your head has probably been as prevelant as it has always been, however as you are "tuned" into it it feels like it has become more prevelant than it really is.

The smae thing is true of the shufffle feature on your I-Pod, while it is not completely random, as this is impossible as it is based on an algorithm that acts on certain laws, I guarantee that you believe that it plays certain songs more or less than others.

Well...
this absolutely makes sense. Still a bit freaky though...
