Shitty office politics are shitty, I'll give you that.

^ ^ THIS!
But thankfully, I've picked an office where this sort of thing doesn't affect anyone much. Have seen it though in previous jobs.

Try "you will do this because I say so and because it is For Your Own Good and you WILL like it"
on something that has nothing to do with how you do your job, from someone who doesn't know jack shit about you or how you think. It's like trying to do a jigsaw when you have half the pieces and don't know what the picture is supposed to be.

Sorry. Ranty this evening. On the plus side I got to sit in the driver's seat of one of our sets today :D

There there. Have a big squishy hug.
Sounds like they're making toomany assumptions about you and they're getting it wrong. Happens to me too (but not as often as it used to). Maybe you should deliberately set their train of thought about you crashing into a wall by making them expect you to behave in a certain way, and then suddenly doing something opposite to what they expect.

What, like come to work in a corset and 6" heels?

(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 20:41, Reply)
so you dont do that now?

(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 20:44, Reply)
No - I have to wear smart trousers and occasionally bully my feet into wearing heels, which hurt.
People would shit bricks.

I bet the nearby building site would love you for it.

Too much I think!
Shitting bricks sounds painful, and messy. So they'd have to clean the bricks first.
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 21:17, Reply)

Is that for the 'building up the wrong expectations' part or the 'crashing into a brick wall' part?
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 20:44, Reply)
A little of column A, a little of column B.

more details?

Thinking I should COMPLETELY go out with a male friend of mine
in whom I have ZERO romantic interest despite my protestations to the contrary. Repeatedly.

Am I right in guessing they're making up toomany assumptions about you?

(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 22:07, Reply)
That they are.
That they can make someone look like my type and that is enough.
