i have often pondered this very issue.
perhaps smearing the outside of the straw with something water based yet not water soluble? some kinda fancy, new fangled kindova gel?
we need to ask a real scientist, not just a pretend one like me!

and I'm sick of forcing the straw back into the glass. I've tried sucking it, stirring it to get some of the fizz out of the coke in general, blowing bubbles, and just pushing it back in constantly...

try this!
hold the straw just off the bottom of the recepticle, gentle like, then tap the bugger with yer fingy to release the bubbles. i reckon if you repeat that a few times at intervals of a few minutes then the problem may vanish before yer very eyes!

Seriously though, you may get to drive a nice shiny 395, which I grudgingly admit is superior in every way to the 373, but I'd not want to deal with customers the way you do (only have to actually interact with them if something explodes). Why will they not let you have tasers again?
