Most things don't shut down forsnow up here. It is just something you deal with (or else move to Florida for the winter). Shoveling isn't so bad and I do have a snow blower I use when we get more than 6 or 8 inches of snow. You are right though, I do piss and moan about it every time we get a real snow.
