Apparently it's a local cottage industry.There are LOADS of weavers in Guatemala, and the cloth they produce is like a very heavy twill- extremely thick and tough and durable, and usually brightly colored.
Being so poor they reuse everything they can until it can't be used any more, so worn out clothing gets turned into quilts. I paid something like $23 for it. The seller was pleased.
