As I'm still an unemployed wanker, I'm applying to graduate school in hopes that I can change career paths. This has involved getting letters of recommendation from various people, getting transcripts from my previous schools and taking the GRE exam. And now I need to write a self statement about what I can bring to the field I'm trying to get a degree in, as well as fill out about fifty pages of information which can all easily be found on my CV.
I've also been applying hither and yonder for any and all vaguely engineering-related jobs that I might qualify for, with no success to date. Then this morning I check the website of my last employer, only to find that my account has been temporarily locked- and everyone's gone until Jan. 4.
I'm ready to bite chunks out of granite.
Tell me something to cheer me, b3ta.

I've been applying for jobs that I'm waaaay overqualified for. At this point running a McD's doesn't sound so bad.

My friend is a manager at an arby's and makes somewhere around 35 grand.

My last job paid almost double that. While I'm not figuring that this is likely to happen again anytime soon, I'd like to think that I'm work $50K, anyway. I didn't get that BSME for a wall decoration.
On the other hand, the demand for mechanical engineers in Richmond is getting pretty pathetic.

That's pretty good for my area. I imagine it'd be more for a higher populated city.

Jeez, I guess that means I'm down to advertising on Craigslist or hanging around truck stops...

As I recall it was overrun by frat-boy types, and the only females there were with other guys or clearly not interested in socializing with anyone not already at their table. Kinda like going to Hooters.
Maybe if I could find a ladies-only strip club in the area...

*blink* I'm not sure that I want to know how you know that...
Actually, here in town it seems there may be a few- but the quick Google search I did gave me the jibblies, so I think I'll stop with that.

also they always used to advertise on the radio for a local night club that had the male dancers perform on the last friday of the month.

And during my brief time dating a local former stripper, I heard about one somewhere down here as well. But as I'm not exactly a big fan of such places in general, regardless of the gender of the strippers, looks like that option is out... *sigh*
