so..Music - Them Crooked Vultures with Honourable mention to Mastodons 'Crack The Skye' - thanks to the geeks on here for recommending.
Books - do comic books count? Batman & Son was ace and Grant Morrison can do no wrong at the moment.
Films - The Transformers movie was superb as well as Le Scaphandre Et Le Papillon (The Diving Bell and The Butterfly) - Julian Schnabel is the man - if only the fecker would make more films!

ah they didnt overdo the Megan Fox stuff -the first movie was too much about her and not enough robot footage whereas this one was total robo-awesomeness overkill. Absolutely geektastic!
