for fighting in the streets, boy.
My question is, what can a poor boy do, except to sing for a rock'n'roll band?
Obviously there's begging, or getting an apprenticeship, joining the army, going on the dole...actually it's a stupid fucking question.
As you were.

Bringing with it the new, Captain Beefheart book, written by long term Magic Band member, John 'Drumbo' French. Also, the very first Blu-Ray discs i've ever bought, despite me not having a Blu-Ray player, my pal has a PS3 though. Reggae classic 'Babylon', the Bill Douglas 'Trilogy' and his superb, full length classic, 'Comrades'. Seriously overlooked British director who's films play more like moving paintings than actual film.
Tonight i'm off out with work to a local shithole, but it is being paid for...probably a tenner each, max. If I drink enough I should be able to block out the misery and the human detritus.

I bought Safe as Milk this week and have only played the A side.
I love waiting for parcels I always have stuff sent to work even though I live less than 20 metres from the Royal mail depot, simply to give myself something to look forward to at work....

Electricity is probably the strongest track, but I do love 'Yellow Brick Road' with its freak out 'The following tone, is a reference tone, recorded at our operating level' intro. The Captain was peerless, the most unique singing voice I have ever had the pleasure to hear. Not to everyone's taste, but I really don't have the time to give a fuck about everyone.
I know what you mean about the parcels. I watched a good docu about cocaine addicts a few years ago, and there was this one guy, who, on getting his stash on a Friday, would pop a few gr in a jiffy bag and send it to himself. Then come Monday he would be rattling, pacing about and almost tearing out the postmans hand. Entertaining stuff.

I have thought about doing this to keep my greedy mitts out of my stash if I've got a big night coming up but the opportunity to score has come up several days before.

is the 45 of Beefheart's version of garage standard 'Diddy Wah Diddy' but I have never even seen it listed anywhere.

Quite rare, i'm led to believe. The song itself isn't that brilliant, in comparison to his eventual output, but decent nonetheless.
Would it be this version?

Not quite a Bowie-sized problem, but a pretty big one nonetheless.

I like what he stands for, but I never liked his music. Beefheart was in another universe by comparison. Definitely not Bowie/U2 levels of hate, nowhere near it, Zappa at least had 'some' talent.

who believed, wholly incorrectly, that he was really funny and clever. He would definitely have got a punch in the fucking face, were he not dead.

Other than that, i'm a non-believer.

You won't regret it. I caught them completely by mistake about 12 years ago, was just about to go to my bed when the My Childhood started. I sat there transfixed, jaw slack. Completely absorbing. The blu-ray ones i got were actually cheaper than the regular dvd's. If you like it, definitely get Comrades, a 3 hour epic, very trippy with an all star cast, including a brilliant cameo by 'punk' ballet dancer Michael Clark. Such a shame he died so young, fuck knows what he would have been capable of.

When you said "moving paintings", I thought, "thats how I describe Julian Schnabels films".
I recommend if you're not familiar.
