If you get the chancetake a trip out to Yosemite National Park. It is, quite simply, stunning. Although it's a 12 hour round trip on train and bus, so a bit knackering. You may be able to book a lodge overnight though.
Alcatraz is interesting, as is the university museum (can't remember what it's called).

Alcatraz is fab.I could spend hours on that rock and not get bored of the history.
