Timed myself rather nicely to arrive at the Brixton Academy on Saturday night at 21:00. Thought that would be a good time to get there for Hot Chip. Looked at my ticket: Doors 9PM.
Balls. Planning fail.
I had to endure a crap support act and over two hours wait before HC came on. They were rubbish, no attempt to recreate the sound of their albums just a wall of aural assault. I like loud gigs but this wasn't loud, just noisy.
Left before the encore started as I thought it was getting late. It indeed was, I'd missed the last Northern line train to get me from Stockwell to North London. A helpful TFL chap (yeah, I was surprised too) directed me to a late bus to Camden. So at 2am I was stood in the rain without a jacket trying to flag down a taxi for about half an hour to get me to where my car was parked. It was after 4 by the time I'd gotten home, scaring the bejeesus out of someone who was worried I'd end up a homeless London rent boy.

but I've never heard of a band coming on at 23:20 outside of a festival. How the hell did they think people were going to get home? C***s.

if you ever woke up, but you always sleep so peacefully at that time, I just like to sit and watch.

I was just reporting the facts as they were happening. I always had confidence in my skillz to beat That London.

supporting Goldfrapp, at Brixton Academy. They were awful. Basically they looked and sounded like a band that was comprised of serial sex offenders, and this was their social worker's attempt to re-introduce them to socialising and interacting with society.
