Erm...
You OK Gonz?

On the one hand, I'm deeply depressed about life and what I've seen.
How a man can be a grandfather of a lovely family, have a career that included a lot of the construction of state of isreal*, being a diplomat in north africa and doing something-or-other around the middle east. How a man can live for a good 60-70 years with a loving wife and family and all that.

And then to see him reduced to a shell of a man who'd be lucky to see christmas, would have been off dead in many respects, is never going to get better, covered in shit, crying, largly ignored, completely releaved of his metal facailties. Pathetic shells of the men they once were, still loved, yet slightly more resented.

And being in rooms with these people for a week, coming to the conclusion that if this situation means having my chance to say "Good bye" to dad, I'm glad I never got that.

* Politics about that being a good thing or not excluded... it's still quite an impressive thing.

Gonz, my pa had Alzheimers and died last year.
When in hospital, it was just like you describe. He was put in a home and was dead after 6 months there.

I feel your pain.

Not sure Gonz has recovered from his medical excitement yet.
There's a lot of oddness around today.

Sorry if I just put my foot in it there, I had no idea.
To see the accelerated decline of a parent is a lot to deal with.
Was at my ma's yesterday and she could barely hold a simple conversation.
After I left I sat in the van and cried for half an hour before I could drive off.
At least I had the foresight to park up round the corner where I couldn't be seen.
