I just got 2kg of beef ribs and a few bottles of bitter so I'll be salivating and experimenting in equal measure this evening.

Sounds like a top evening
I was supposed to be going to see a fillum tonight, but the people I was supposed to be going with aren't responding to my phone calls. How long should I give them before I ditch that plan in favour of the pub, which is short on ribs* but abundant in bitter?
