I asked you a question and then went out for lunch like a fool.
I've got a girl pet rat and her friend died a bit ago, but she's still only young and I didn't want her to be by herself for ages so I bought her a friend at the weekend. However, the stupid girl in the pet shop told me the rat was a girl, but when I got home it turns out he has little rat balls.
I'm not taking him back because I've already fallen in love with him, so after reading about it on the tinterwebs I decided to get him neutered so he would stop trying to rape my rat and they could live happily ever after.
I've read that rats have short memories, so when he comes back from the vet, do you think I can just reintroduce him to girl rat like they've never met before and she'll forget about all the raping?

She's over 18 months old so hopefully she's passed her ratty menopause. Hopefully she'll feel sorry for him when he comes back from the vet all stitched up and ball-less and will let him within 3 feet of her without shouting at him.
I would so love ratbabies. My boyfriend would kill me though. This exact same thing happened with the gerbils, I bought a lone one for him (which I told the pet shop woman I thought it was a girl, but she said it wasn't) so I bought a male friend for it in another pet store, but then the original 'male' gerbil miraculously had babies. Fortunately I love all tiny things so they're now living in a vivarium that's been divided with a glass screen.
