I remember a line from Porridge: "I read a book once...Green it was."

I'm mainly looking for a bunch of Robin Hobb stuff: Ship of Destiny, and the Soldier Son trilogy.
I quite fancy all of the Robert Jordan Wheel of Time stuff, and Gateway by Frederick Pohl, and those JV Jones ones you mentioned the other day

you really don't fancy the wheel of time books, its like trying to read the Tommyknockers 12 times in a row, hideous hideous stuff
The first JV jones trilogy is ok but if you haven't read the First Law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie then you are a fool and your views on books are null and void until you do so

and so would like to know how it ends
trouble is I can't much remember what happened so far
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 13:17, Reply)
and I think pretty much fuck all happened apart from that fucking nun woman repeating the same fucking phrase about 100 fucking times per book.
I can post you the jv jones and joe abercrombie stuff if you like.
Edit: and you can keep the JV jones stuff, or forward them to Poppet when she arrives

the abercrombie stuff might be a goer though, I'll let you know how I get on. cheers

is exponentially better than the first.

only series I've given up on.
As for the others. Search for reviews on ciao.co.uk. On the side they do price comparison. Just did it for Forest Mage (second Soldier Son) and they appear to have it listed for 81pence (plus 2.50 postage.)
I don't mind giving you the first Soldier Son or Gateway if you still can't find them at a later date
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 13:19, Reply)
I could've got them all from them through amazon, but postage was £2.75 a piece, which seems like too much if they are all coming from the same place.
thanks for the offer, might have to take you up on it if I can't find them elsewhere
Wheel of Time is almost an afterthought really. there are others that I want, I just can't find my lists!

but if it's near Bristol they have a massive Book barn place.
And yes you'd be welcome to them, if you can't find them decently priced. They're in alright condition.
Tried bookcrossing.com? People leaving books in public places and posting details on the website about where

so not that far from Bristol and in fact I will definitely be in and around Bristol before I go on holiday.
managed to pick up 9 of the books I'm after for £21.84 delivered, which isn't too bad

Amazon?
And the Book Barn is amazing. Absolutely gigantic, and they have nearly everything you can think of. Not hugely cheap, but well worth a visit
