I see and look at that in a totally different way.
How has society/education failed to give them a desire, opportunity and motivation to find work?

because it makes it too easy for them not to
all 4 of their parents work hard and they went to decent enough schools, they just don't see why they should get off their arses to earn cash when they can get it for nothing. so they swop tips on how to fail interviews etc. it drives my friend insane (and their parents, ie her brother/sister for that matter). one of them was even told by the dole office that she would make more money not having a job now that she had a sprog...

Why does it have to be society and education taht has failed them?

the problem is
that the welfare state assumes that people want to work. when in fact, there are too many people who are inherently lazy c*nts who will happily take a soft option. not that i am saying i am perfect, i am desperately lazy about many many things, it's just that work isn't one of them (in fact, work is probably the only one!).
