I think people assume
women with short hair are more likely to be adventurous. Did you have any tattoos/piercings?

Not until my early thirties. I had very short hair from mid twenties till last year.
It never put guys off.

is quite often viewed as different to the norm, so having it probably signalled that you weren't really hidebound by convention. I'd love short hair, but I have a long face so I'd just look like a man

I was always getting mistaken for a guy. Admittedly mostly from the back.
I found it amusing.

When my nephew was about 4 years old he asked me if I was a man or a woman.
