If you speak the language (even badly like me) they make you feel genuinely welcome and I have a lot of friends there now. But I know exactly what you mean in Bangers. We're just barely-tolerated, walking ATMs there.

They were so polite all the time, but after a few minutes you start wondering if they are really that nice or they are just expecting a good tip for opening doors for you and things like that.
I want to go again, but to the North, and with someone who speaks the language.

dedicated to the lower realms of Buddhism. 20ft high statues of demons and grotesque life size statues everywhere, absolutely amazing and smack in the middle of well... nowhere. It's incredible what you can find when you go off the beaten track.
