Does anyone reckon
Gordon Brown would have met with a more positive media reaction if he'd said something like "she's right you know; we must do something about all these foreigners flooding Britain"?

If so, how miserable does that make you feel?

This is the first year I've not been following the UK elections
as I'm slowly letting go of my roots there.
Who's likely to win? Do the Lib Dems stand a chance for once, or do you think the Conservatives will once again raise to power?
(, Sun 2 May 2010, 19:47, Reply)
lib dems probably stand more of a chance than for a long while
but that's more a reflection of the others being extra shit.

I'm fucking annoyed that I applied for a postal vote due to holiday and the postal vote things got sent out after I left for holiday. Deadline for sorting out a proxy vote was 4 minutes after we found this out...

That sucks.
I keep saying I really should read up on it, being all intelligent and that, but realistically it has no effect on me whatsoever. Makes me look a bit of a twat down the pub though when those who do follow UK politics ask my opinion.
(, Sun 2 May 2010, 20:21, Reply)
But it'll affect global politics
and in my opinion, you've got a duty to vote somehow - even if it's just a spoilt ballot.

I get that,
but I'm currently torn between goodbye and I love you.
(, Mon 3 May 2010, 2:32, Reply)
Unlikely, seeing as most of the media is owned by Tories.
They'd have used that as a rod for his back too.

Fairly Miserable
As a foreigner living in the UK (although EU citizen)(Denmark) I find it a bit scary if I'm being honest.
(, Sun 2 May 2010, 20:45, Reply)
I like how you felt it necessary to specify Denmark despite your username
But seriously, I do hope that those who complain about mass immigration and claim to speak for a "silent majority" are, in the experience of you and other non-British born types, just a loud and irritating minority.
(, Sun 2 May 2010, 21:22, Reply)
Thank you.
My experience has been that they are simply an irritation.

We have people like your UKIP(?) at home, a Peoples Movement against the EU (Folkebevaegelsen mod EU) who are simply an embarrassment I am afraid.

Bloody forrins.
Coming over here, working hard for a living, marrying us, bearing our children, making us happy.
What a fucking nerve.
(, Sun 2 May 2010, 20:46, Reply)
I would actually be fairly unhappy
If some foreigners came over here and started baring our children.
(, Sun 2 May 2010, 21:18, Reply)
Well spotted!
I'll just edit that...
(, Sun 2 May 2010, 21:29, Reply)
Can't help wondering what The Boy Clegg would have answered
him being a forrin himself. Well, 3/4 forrin.
